SEO VS SEM

What is SEO & SEM

The Difference between SEO and SEM is simple. SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the practice of optimizing the Content Searched through the organic results of a Search Engine.

And SEM or Search Engine Marketing is traditionally SEO plus Pay-Per-Click advertising, but some people today refer to it as PPC. Now, you might be thinking that SEO is the way to be free, consistent, and passive from organic traffic.

But to think that the only way to grow your business through Search would be short-sighted. So today, we are going to talk about some Search Engine Marketing Strategies and when and where you should use SEO, PPC, or both. stay tuned.

SEO Tools

SEO tool that helps you increase your Search Traffic, research your competitors and dominate your niche. Search engines are, in my opinion, the best traffic sources

In fact, there are about 5 billion searches on Google every day. It has also been reported that Search Engines drive 10 times more traffic to shopping sites than social media. And for you local business owners, 72% of consumers who did a local search visited a store within 5 miles.

SEO&PPC

  1. Now, to explain why both SEO and PPC are important, let's play a game of "rather you will". Can you rank # 1 immediately for any keyword instead, or will there be an unlimited PPC budget to pay for ads? PPC Now, I certainly don't have an answer to this, but let's unpack both sides.

  2. From an unadulterated Website Optimization point of view, you need to recollect that web crawlers are Organizations. They need to make money to work. As a result, most, if not all platforms will offer premium placements to pay customers. For example, commercial keywords like "insurance" have a ton of value and, therefore, a ton of competition, so the entire fold is heavily involved in advertisements, making organic results invisible.

  3. So if you have ranked systematically for this keyword, the searcher will have to scroll down for some time before going to your page. Now, let's make a case for PPC. Sure, if you had an infinite budget, you'd rank # 1 at the top of each page, right? No! Google does not show ads on every page for every search.

  4. The kind of business intent is necessary for the advertisement to be displayed. For example, key in something with clear commercial intent, such as "buy a Red Bus ticket," and you'll see the Type in an informational query, such as "What to do in Delhi'' and you won't see any ads.

  5. So if you want to opt-in for an infinite advertising budget, but no SEO, you will miss a ton of chances to get traffic. And another noticeable point is that commercial keywords typically have lower search volumes than informational ones, which will limit your pool of relevant traffic.

SEO VS SEM

SEO traffic vs. PPC traffic

  • As you can see here, in Google Keyword Planner Explorer, informative queries are 27X more searched than commercial. So now I'm guessing that your answer about unlimited SEO traffic vs. PPC traffic is probably as difficult as you initially thought. But that's why we have yet another familiar, SEM, where we can combine two strategies and truly take our Search Engine Marketing to another level.

  • Let's walk through some strategies that should give you a good idea of when and why you should implement SEO, PPC, or both. First, try running ads for keywords that are too competitive to rank at least for now. There are potential keywords in your industry that you will not be able to rank for years.

  • For example, if you were building a new supplement store and you wanted to rank for things like "buying protein powder", the top 3 are less likely to be ranked. You can compete against the likes of Amazon, GNC, and Walmart. Now, this does not mean that you should abandon SEO altogether and only run ads.

  • But since rankings for competitive terms are likely to be long-lasting, PPC can help the ball get rolled immediately. And there are three big benefits of using PPC when you are working to rank your pages. First of all, when you are paying for traffic, you can start generating revenue immediately.

  • It is hoped that will help to get some cash flow, but note that just because you advertise, it does not mean that you will have positive returns. Often, it can take months and lots of lost dollars to find a campaign that works for you. Second, you have the opportunity to test and optimize conversions.

  • Most advertising platforms have conversion-tracking features. Later, if publishers can see that their advertising spend is returning positive ROI, they will continue to spend. So use it as an opportunity to get information on things like average cost per conversion.

  • Run controlled tests to improve your transformation rate.  And as soon as you start benefiting from your ads, you get connected to other platforms. And third, you can get valuable keyword data. Run controlled tests to improve your transformation rate. In this report, you can see the keywords people are bidding on and the conversion number with them.

Keywords Target

SEO VS SEM

  • This can help you understand if the keywords you want to target will actually generate conversions. As a hypothetical example, let's say you were bidding on "protein powder" and getting a ton of traffic because it's a popular question. But in terms of net profit, you were not profitable.

  • In the search terms report, you may find that a keyword such as "grass-fed whey protein" sends very little traffic but converts at a very high rate. So what I recommend you to do is to export the search term report from Google ads. Then use a research tool like Google Keyword Planner where you can paste 10,000 keywords at once and get all your metrics.

  • Presently, I don't have an advertisement crusade on protein powder, however, to delineate your point, you will see that the catchphrase trouble score for "grass took care of whey protein" is very low. So it would be worth checking and possibly creating a new page.

  • This way you will probably be able to get some traffic faster than organic search. you can use both SEO and PPC, another reason is that search results pages are included in advertisements. As you already saw in the "insurance" example, competitive keywords usually have a lot of people willing to pay top dollar to come out on top.

  • And even though you are ranking # 1 through SEO, the organic results are so low that they cannot even click. Now, to put this in perspective, you will see that on average, we have ranked # 1 for the keyword "Local Business SEO".Yet, in the event that you take a gander at our snap rate, the hunt support discloses to us that individuals click on our outcomes just 0.5% of the time!!

  • And if we look at the search results, you will see that there is a bunch of ads, which makes it seem that our # 1 organic result is actually # 4. As you can see, most of the advertisements are for local SEO services, so if we have an agency providing these types of services, we will definitely put some money into advertisements to get more clicks on our pages.

  • Will consider, and hopefully more customers. Finally owns as much real estate as possible. And this is similar to the strategy we've seen so far, but for a different reason. These days, there will be some ads at the top of a specific SERP, some SERP elements such as a special snippet, a "people will ask too" box, and then organic search results.

  • Now, while this may seem annoying especially for SEO, I want you to see this as an opportunity to rank in SERPs with monopolies. For example, you will see that the blog starter is paying for advertisements, select the snippet and own the # 1 ranking position. And it means a lot to me to put in his time and effort because he is making a lot of money from this page.

At google keyword planner, we are fully committed to providing the best educational resources on SEO.  we own a position in the Article carousel and then the # 1 organic ranking position.
